In 2014 I was asked by the local school to design the banner for West Rainton. This was to be used at the Miners Gala to represent our village. This was the design I came up with  and the school were very pleased  with it.
       It was changed very slightly when made into the banner as the group making it felt it was sexest by only having men in the background and changed the man with a pick into two women!
       I tried to incorrparate the history of mining in the village by showing the miners in the background and Adventure pit. I then placed the future of the village, the children, walking up Adventure Lane away from where the pit used to be.
        The banner now attends every miners gala for West Rainton.
